self-proclaimed center of the county and heart of the world, this once-rural area has
experienced phenomenal growth. With a population near 45,000, it is the fastest growing

Business: Macombs
small industrial base consists of several machinery shops, including the biggest, National
Broach, which manufactures tools for metal cutting and has the most employees in the
township. Progressive Tool is the largest.
Shopping: A
variety of strip malls to choose from: Farmbrooke at 22 Mile and Hayes; Crosswind Corners
at Hall and Hayes; a shopping center has been constructed at 21 and Romeo Plank; and
Country Meadows Shopping Center is at the southeast corner of 23 Mile and Hayes.

library; Clinton-Macomb, located at Garfield and 19 Mile Road.
Parks: While
there are no public parks in Macomb, the township has purchased land for three park sites
and is looking for future sites to purchase. Playgrounds can be found behind many of the
local schools. Recently hired is D. Martin Piepenbrok as parks and recreation director.
Piepenbrok has coordinated several events for township residents, such as outdoor movies,
a family sock hop and a daddy-daughter dance.
